Understanding the Permit Process
 
Lanai is a neighborhood school which means we must enroll students who live within our designated school boundaries before considering permits for students outside the area. For non-resident students, enrollment at Lanai is only possible through the Intra-District Permit process.
 
Key Information About Permits
 
  • Space Availability:  We won't know how many permit spots are available until resident students are enrolled. This includes families moving into our boundaries during the summer. The earliest we will know how many spaces we have available is in August.
  • Submitting a Permit Application:  While parents may submit a permit application starting March 10, 2025, please note that all Initial Permit Applications submitted before August will NOT be recommended, as our school is currently at capacity. 
 
Permit Eligibility & Process
  • Permit Categories:  All permit applicants must qualify for one of the designated permit categories.  
  • School of Residence FIRST:  Parents must take the Initial Permit Applications, along with the required supporting documentation, to be reviewed and signed off by the school of residence (the student’s home school).  
  • Submission to Lanai SECOND:  Only after the student's home school has reviewed and recommended the permit application should the application and supporting documentation be brought to Lanai Road Elementary for consideration. 
  • Incomplete Applications:  Incomplete applications or applications missing supporting documentation will not be accepted and will be returned to the parent.
 
What to Expect
  • Open Spaces for Permits:  Once resident enrollment has been determined, we will post on this page how many permit spaces are available in each grade (see below).  
  • Consideration WHEN Space is Available:  Permit application complete with supporting documentation will be reviewed for enrollment when space becomes available.
