LAUSD Intra District Permit Time Frame for New Applications

Applications for the following school year will be accepted beginning the second Monday of March. Applications must be complete, first recommended by the School of Residence, and submitted in person as a hard copy.

 

Lanai Road Specific Information (Updated 8/18/26)

Space Availability for 2026-2027:  For students qualifying using the permit criteria below:
 
      •  All grades are at capacity with no space available
.

Intra District Permit Criteria: LAUSD recognizes multiple permit criteria; however, only the following apply to new Lanai Road applications (documentation required):

      • Child Care: Student’s childcare provider is located within the Lanai Road boundary.

      • Parent Employment: A parent is physically employed within the Lanai Road boundary.

      • Exception Request: Must document an extreme hardship preventing attendance at the assigned school.  Documented severe or confidential issues that make attending resident school unsafe or impossible. 

      • Safety and Protection: Documented proof that the school of residence is persistently dangerous in general and for student.

Permits that do not meet the above criteria
and/or lack the required supporting documentation
will not be accepted and will be returned
to the parent/guardian as incomplete.



Additional Information

  • Lanai Road does not offer Open Enrollment spaces.

  • Lanai Road Elementary School is a neighborhood school, not an affiliated charter and does not hold a lottery.

  • Lanai Road follows LAUSD residency verification and enrollment guidelines without exception.
